Rabbi Daniel Plotkin – Rabbi Educator
Dan brings a love of learning, a passion for Judaism and the Jewish people and many years of experience as a Jewish educator to this position. He looks forward to meeting this community and connecting with individual students and families, as well as working in partnership to bring an already outstanding program to even higher levels.
Rachel Petroff Kessler – Family Educator
Rachel has been at Temple Isaiah since 2010. Originally from upstate New York, Rachel has worked as a Jewish educator in a variety of settings, including Hillel at Binghamton, Kutz: NFTY’s Campus for Reform Jewish Teens and Congregation Rodeph Sholom in Manhattan. Rachel received a Bachelor’s in Middle Eastern Studies from Binghamton University and a Master's in Religious Education from Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion’s New York School of Education where she was awarded prizes for excellence in Jewish education and Modern Jewish Thought. Rachel loves learning and celebrating all things Jewish and enjoys working with many different populations in Temple Isaiah. Rachel lives in Columbia with her husband and children.
Amy Snyder – Preschool Director
Amy joined our staff in July, 2012. Born and raised in Bridgewater, NJ, she holds a B.A. in Psychology from Muhlenberg College and a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Boston University. Since 1987, Amy has been actively involved in the field of early childhood education. She spent 18 years teaching in a variety of Jewish preschools in Massachusetts, North Carolina, Rhode Island and Maryland. Prior to joining Temple Isaiah, Amy was the director of Kehilat Shalom Early Childhood Center in Gaithersburg, MD, from 2005-2012. Amy feels honored to have the opportunity to lead such a dedicated and nurturing teaching staff and to be a part of such a warm and welcoming community. She most enjoys when she is able to escape from her office to interact directly with the children, their teachers and their families. Amy lives in Gaithersburg, MD, with her husband and two children.
Dalia Feldman – B’nai Mitzvah Tutor
Born and raised in Israel, at the age of sixteen Dalia was chosen to join the effort undertaken by the organization “Shurat-Hamitnadvim” to teach new immigrant children and adults the Hebrew language. At eighteen she enlisted in the Israeli Defense Force for two years, serving as an instructor at a military school. In 1976 Dalia, her husband and three sons moved to Columbia, MD, and in 1986 she began teaching at Temple Isaiah Religious School and soon after also began preparing the children of Temple Isaiah for their Bnai Mitzvah, a role she continues to this day. In 1991 Dalia was nominated for the Glasner Award from the Board of Jewish Education for excellence in teaching. Thus far she has prepared over a thousand students for B’nai Mitzvah, along with 2 groups of adult B’nai Mitzvah students.
Helen Winoker – Temple Administrator and Facilities Manager
Helen joined our staff in January 2016. She as 30+ years’ experience in Synagogue Administration both as Executive Director and Director of Education in Congregations in Florida, Minnesota and Oklahoma. After a brief reprieve from synagogue life, she found that she missed the sense of community and purpose in her work and was anxious to return. Helen and her husband Sandy also spent 10 years in Israel where both of their children were born. They are delighted to have the opportunity to move to the area and join the Temple Isaiah community and be close to their children and grandchildren.
Ann Brinsmead - Accountant
Ann has worked part-time at Temple Isaiah since December 2002, managing all aspects of the billing, receivables, payables and payroll functions. Ann has a Masters in Business Administration and a Masters in Library Science from the University of Maryland and has worked as an accountant for the past 24 years. Ann and her husband, Rich, are empty-nesters living in Clarksville and have two daughters who recently flew the coop. She moved here from New York over 35 years ago but frequently travels ‘home’ to see family and friends. When Ann is not working, you might find her reading a novel for her book club, watching one her favorite shows (Nashville, Parenthood, Grey’s Anatomy, or Mad Men), baking, gardening or struggling to keep up with her dog on their daily morning jog.
Lori Levitas - B'nai Mitzvah Coordinator and Rabbi's Assistant
Lori recently joined our staff in June 2015 after working many years at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore, as an Administrative Assistant, and before the JCC she was also the Office Manager of Beth Shalom Congregation of Carroll County. Lori and her husband, Howard, who have been Carroll County residents for the past 20 years, recently became empty-nesters as their twin-sons graduated from college and moved out. When Lori is not at work, she enjoys taking exercise classes at her local gym, spending time outdoors, traveling and taking day trips with her husband.
Beth Luntz – Administrative Assistant
Beth Luntz joined our staff in 2005 as an assistant preschool teacher. In addition to her teaching duties, she joined the office staff a few years later as Assistant to the Religious School Director. In 2010 Beth “graduated” from the preschool and became the Temple Isaiah Administrative Assistant. Beth lives with her husband and two children in Clarksville, MD. Her daughter was a student in the very first Temple Isaiah Preschool class, Mommy and Me taught by Morah Renee Panoff at The Meeting House. Her son was a Bar Mitzvah with Rabbi Mark Panoff, Emeritus and a member of Rabbi Craig Axler’s first Temple Isaiah Confirmation Class.
