connecTIon Goes Crazy for Hamentashen!

If you could put anything into a hamentashen, what filling would you choose?

This week participants were faced with just this question as connecTIon, Temple Isaiah’s 20s/30s group, held a hamentashen bake. With nearly 20 options, everyone was able to get creative with their combinations. The options ranged from traditional (apricot, raspberry, poppy) to contemporary (cookie butter, cheesecake, lemon curd) to “are you really going to put that in a hamentashen?!” (jelly beans and York peppermint patties).

At the end of the night, everyone got to go home with a dozen hamentashen of various flavors, plus extra filling to attempt their own at home!

Is your mouth watering yet? Purim is coming soon, but it isn’t too late to make your own! We used this recipe from Tori Avey — the dough can be mixed by hand and doesn’t require any chilling time. Then, if you’re wondering what to do with some of those delicious cookies you just made, pack some up with another snack or two and fulfill the mitzvah of Mishloach Manot — giving gifts of food to friends on Purim!

Thanks to Eric and Annie McCormick for hosting us, and to everyone who came and baked. We wish all of you a very joyous Purim!
