Temple Isaiah is Hiring!

Temple Isaiah Preschool is currently seeking an Assistant Floating Preschool Teacher to join our team of dedicated, nurturing, and creative educators. This teacher will assist everyone and will work in all our classrooms with 2, 3, and 4-year-olds. Our Howard County preschool, located just outside Columbia, MD, is play-based, welcoming, and innovative. Candidates should have a passion for working with children, flexibility, and enthusiasm, enjoy working as a team, and have an eagerness to learn and grow as a professional. Experience and coursework in early childhood education is recommended. Knowledge of Jewish culture and holidays is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside classroom teachers to design an age and developmentally appropriate classroom
  • Develop lesson plans in partnership with colleagues
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development
  • Plan and implement activities that develop self-esteem and social skills
  • Interact with children to support play, exploration, and learning
  • Weave Jewish culture and Jewish holidays into lesson plans
  • Build a team within your classroom and among the teaching staff
  • Desire to learn and grow as a professional and apply that knowledge in the classroom
  • Meet the individual needs of the children
  • Communicate appropriately and professionally with parents and staff
  • Create a positive learning environment

Qualifications:

  • Prior Early Childhood teaching experience
  • MSDE required training certificates (Basic Health & Safety, ADA, Developmental Screening, etc.), or willing to obtain them upon hire
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
  • Medical evaluation and a full, recent background check, as required by MSDE
  • Full vaccination against Covid-19 required, including boosters

The hours of this position are 9am–2:15pm, Monday through Friday. The appropriate candidate can start immediately, following clearance from the Office of Childcare. Opportunities for additional hours may be available. There is flexibility in this position if the ideal candidate wants to work fewer hours per week, as well. This position will be salaried and paid at a rate of $17/hour. Teachers are also required to attend staff training, professional development sessions, conferences, and school-wide events that may occur outside of teaching hours.
