Preschool Program (Beresheet) – 4 year olds
Temple Isaiah Religious School’s Pre-K class is open for enrollment for the 2016-17 school year.
Led by Laurie Avrunin, the class will be a fun and engaging introduction to Jewish holidays, customs and stories for Jewish preschoolers in their final year before kindergarten.
Primary School – Grades K through 3
Temple Isaiah’s primary grades help children learn the basic values, rituals and stories of Judaism. As they learn the holidays and become comfortable in the synagogue they build a base of knowledge and identity for the middle school grades. Basic concepts in Hebrew are also taught during these years preparing students for the more intensive B’nai Mitvzah Preparation.
Middle School – Grades 4 through 7
The 4 hour a week program for the middle school expands on the knowledge base of the primary years, allowing students to find new approaches and ideas in Jewish practice and history. The program includes two hours a week of instruction on Hebrew and liturgy so that students will be able to lead and understand the prayers and blessings of Jewish tradition.
Gesher - 7th Grade
New for 2016-17 the Gesher 7th grade program provides a bridge (gesher) between childhood and young adult Jewish education as the students experience the B’nai Mitzvah year. Meeting for two hours on Sunday evenings the program will expose the students to a more nuanced vision of the Modern state of Israel, give them the background and details of the tragedy of the holocaust and teach them about the core texts of Judaism.
All classes meet on Sundays from the first Sunday after Labor Day until the Sunday before Memorial Day, generally following the Howard County School Schedule for major vacations or days off. Preschool meets bi-monthly.
