Effective negotiating is an essential ingredient in business and informal day-to-day personal success. Despite negotiations being among the most important life skills, most people don’t receive any formal training in this area. Whether negotiating internally to resolve short-term problems, or externally to meet client needs or get better deals (e.g., on household items like new cars, appliances, computers, or discounts on cable, credit cards, or service contracts), the best negotiators look for effective, innovative ways to maximize gains for both parties. This workshop will address key principles for maximizing individual gains, as well as tips for achieving win-win outcomes. Through the use of assessment tools, immediate feedback, and a skill-building simulation, this highly experiential, workshop outlines strategies and tactics for negotiating well. The art of negotiation includes understanding the negotiations “dance floor,” using perspective-taking and related people skills, learning how to respond to aggressive bargaining, and knowing when to walk away.

This fun and engaging workshop can increase participants’ negotiating self-confidence and improve their capacity to manage conflict and achieve win-win solutions to personal and business challenges. The workshop is also designed to enhance participants’ problem solving, interpersonal, and persuasive abilities. In addition to immediately saving you money on future purchases or business deals and helping you build better relationships, this special workshop will provide participants with opportunities for self-insight, reflection, and growth as savvy negotiators.
