Deuteronomy 7:12–11:25

“When you have eaten your fill, give thanks to your God יהוה for the good land given to you.”

— Deuteronomy 8:10

This line appears in Brikat HaMazon, the blessing after meals. While I was recently away at the URJ Creative Arts Academy, we sang this every day as a reminder of our good fortune to be in a situation where our needs are met, and our stomachs are full. It is also a way of remembering the goodness of both the land of Israel and the lands in which we reside. Through this line, we are reminded that we should never take our food for granted and always be grateful for what we have.
